Meeting of the Ambassador with UNESCO Director-General

On April 25, 2018, the Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the French Republic  Mr. Jamoliddin Ubaidullo met with the Director-General of the United Nations Organization for Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO) Ms. Audrey Azoulay.

During the meeting, the Ambassador submitted the letter of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Sirodjidin Aslov to the Secretary-General of UNESCO  Ms. Audrey Ozulay regarding the appointment of the Ambassador of Tajikistan to the French Republic as the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan to the UNESCO.

At the meeting, it was highlighted that the Republic of Tajikistan highly values its cooperation with UNESCO in the preservation of the rich and ancient culture of the Tajik people and its spread in the international arena. This is evidenced by a positive decision to include  the ancient city of Sarazm and the National Park of Tajikistan to the UNESCO World Heritage List, as well as inclusion of the celebration of Navruz to the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage, and giving this ancient holiday an  international status.
